The adult migrant english program is the australian government's english tuition program for adult migrants and refugees who have recently arrived in this country. You can bring somebody with you, if you need assistance or help with translation. Our amep staff will help you and advise you of what you need. Do I need to attend an interview? once we have determined that you are eligible to participate you will need to enrol by phone or in person here at 98 bondi road before you attend a class. If you are not eligible, the city east community college offers a wide range of english course at low cost. Are the courses free? yes, these courses are free, if you are eligible. How do I register? call 9387 7400 and talk to one of our staff or come into our office at 98 bondi road, 9am to 5pm, to register in person or email your name and visa number to: amep@cityeastcc.com.au course details english content is based on the certificates in spoken and written english (cswe), covering reading and writing skills for everyday life, speaking and listening. What should I do first? you should register for classes within 6 months of the date of the commencement of your visa and start your first class within one year. A holder of a permanent visa from a non-english speaking background if you are proficient in spoken and written english you will not be eligible. You will also need to be: 18 years of age or older (some 15-17 year olds may be eligible if they have not enrolled in the australian school system). For more information call 9387 7400. If you have arrived recently, you may be able to claim up to 510 hours of tuition, or in the last 5 years, free. It is one of the may established under the auspices of the MSW Government in the 1950s to broaden the general and vocational education of the local adult population. Today City East Community College continues to operate in departmental facilities (schools) and in community locations.
